Fishing Trip

On Wednesday we went out fishing with Mana Tours.
When we got out to the fishing place we had 6 rods out with a lure but then we swooped to 4 rods.
About 20 minutes before we left I had something on my line. It was a fish.
After about one minute of fighting we got it.
It was a big 9 pounder. It would of won the International fishing contest the weekend before. After about 15 more minutes we decided to go back. When we got back we were going to smoke it but it was such a nice fish that they stuffed it. The next day we had lunch at the same place and the Mana Tours people had caught and smoked some fish for us and that was one of my favourite days of the school trip.

Ski Trip

On Tuesday night I started packing for our school trip I packed my swimmers some worm clothes because we were going to go to Mt Ruapehu.
The next morning we got up early to do all the jobs around the house. Then we went to the school and the mini bus was waiting for us. The mini bus had 13 seats and tinted windows .At 8:30 we were off down the road and heading to Taumaramui.

A few hours later we were by Taumaramui and we stopped to buy some snacks.
One hour later we were by the lodge and unpacking.
After we had unpacked we did some activities like archery and motorbike riding.
The motorbikes were little 100cc power chief quads. They were really fun.
That night we went to town for dinner. I just had a cheeseburger and fries.
The next morning we got up at 6:00 because we were having dinner at 7:00.
After breakfast we put all our gloves and other things for up on the mountain. Then we were off going up the mountain.
When we got up to Whakapapa we got our passes then we went down the lift to Happy Valley.
Then when everybody was down we got our ski pants and our ski jacket and our ski boots and skis.
Soon we all had our ski boots and skis on. Then we started to learn to ski.
All that day we stayed in Happy Valley getting better and better. At 4:00 we stared heading for some hot pools.
After we had been at the hot pools we went to a takeaway place in Ohakune After dinner we went back to the lodge at 9:00.
Early the next morning we got up at the same time and we packed all our stuff in the van because we were going home after half a day of skiing.
When we were up at Happy Valley we got all our gear and warmed up in Happy Valley. Then we went to the upper mountain.
The lifts that we went on were called the T-Bars and the chair lifts.
That afternoon we went home. It was very long drive.
Overall I think it was a really cool trip.

Speech Day

On Wednesday we went to Makahu to speech day and I had to do my speech.
My favourite speech was Daniels. His was about setting goals and keeping them.
After the speeches the Fire Service came. They showed us how to be safe and how to put the fire out if you got one in your house. They also brought the fire engine and they showed us all the things it carried.
These are a few of their sayings.
Get low and go go go.
Keep looking while your cooking.
Come on guys lets get fire wise.

Mouse Trap

Today Luke and Aaron made a mouse trap we haven’t court anything yet but we are still trying to catch something.
Last night the dog broke our and we needed to fix it.

Award

On Thursday our school got a conservation award for helping DOC with kiwi survival around Matau. It was at Burgess Park at 3 o’ clock. There were also two other people that got an award. While we were there we went for a walk around the park.
A few mouths ago they released 2 kiwi up on the mountain and they both were from Matau.

Dilemma

One day I had a dilemma. It happened on a hot Saturday afternoon. The phone was ringing and I went to pick it up. It was my friend Jason, He wanted to go on a bike ride with me up the road. Just then Mum came in and said we were going to town.
So what could I do? Go to town with Mum or go on a bike ride with my friend?
So I just went on a bike ride with my friend because I could go into town another time.

My Brother Alex

He has a dog and I look

Alex also has a motorbike that he lets me ride it.
I think he is a really cool brother.

Mystery Creak Field-days

Yesterday we went to the Mystery Creak Field-days. There were lots of things to see I liked the all the diggers, Tractors, Motor Cross Demo’s, the tractor pull, and most of all I liked the KTM’s.
Me my bother and my friend walked around all day and saw these things and a lot more.
I think it was a very good day.

I stood as the taillights disappeared then I screamed but they kept driving.
A little while later I heard something it was getting louder and then I saw some lights. It was a car. He stopped when he saw me and I told him what had happened. So he told me to hop in and he would try to find where I lived.
He told me his name was Adrian Smith.
Then we saw Mum’s car she stopped and said. “Thank goodness.” Ten minutes later I was asleep in bed.

A Calculator is a machine that will help you work out answers to maths questions.

It has lots of buttons and numbers that you can push.
It is also solar powered.

You push the buttons and the numbers will come up on the screen.
EG. 1+1= you push those buttons and the answer will be 2.

You can use it at school and at home.

I think it is very useful because you can get the answers to your question really fast.

It is about 8cm long
with a fan shape tail.
It is light grey with

Mount Tarawera Eruption

Hi I am Aaron Mansell and I live with my Mum and my sister by Lake Rotomahana.
My Mum works at Mr McRaes Hotel.
I am 10 years old and I go to the native school at
Rotomahana.

A few weeks ago I was in bed. Suddenly I was woken by an earthquake. My bed was shaking. Then I ran down to my mother. Then my mother, my sister, and I, all went to McRaes hotel. There were lots of people in the hotel. One hour later we heard a very big bang. The mountain was erupting, destroying the pink and white terraces.
Mud and ash were falling on the roof of the hotel and fire balls were flying through the air.
The roof was falling in and soon we had to move
into the newer room.
Half an hour later the roof was starting to bend down and we had to get out of there.
Half an hour before Mr. McRae had seen a light by Guide Sophias whare.
So Mr McRae said we would go there. We had to get something to protect our head. Then we had to go.
There was mud up to our knees and it was very hard to walk.
At last we got there but I had a cut on my leg. They put medicine on the cut and it felt a lot better.
Two hours later the fireballs had stopped and the men had gone out looking for people.
Even though it was in the morning it was still dark because of the ash.
Next day the search party came and took us back to Rotorua. We are never going back there again.

Selling Wool in 1908

Today my Dad is selling wool.
My uncle and I are helping him.
We live on the East coast and there is no port close by.
We take the wagon down to the beach and
Park the wagon in the water and hold the boat close to the wagon while my Dad rolls the bales on the surf-boat.
The sailors have to do about 5 loads but there are two surf-boats so when we have loaded one the other boat will be coming in to the beach.
Then the sailors load the wool bales on the ship and sail away.
Then we go home in the wagon.

The Walkway

Yesterday we went on the Walkway with our bikes. We started at the Aquatic Centre.
After we did the Walkway we went for a swim in the Aquatic Centre.
We saw a lot of old people with their shopping.
I think they built the Walkway because the footpaths have lots of people on them, and the footpaths can be dangerous.
I really liked the smooth concrete and the down hills. I also liked the swim.

The Marijuana Helicopter

On Tuesday a helicopter came to Matau. They were looking for marijuana.
First they landed on Dads paddock and they had a big load of marijuana.
Then they put it all in a big trailer. Next they went to Mr Jupps’ paddock. When the helicopter had landed on the Jupps they let us look inside. After school it started to rain and the helicopter went back.

THE HOLIDAYS

Back to school again.
In the holidays we went tramping. We went to some friends and was very fun.
When we got home we had to work half a day almost every day.
This year there is only 4 people at our school.
This year my brother is going to high school. I have to look after his dog all week.

My donkey

This is my donkey. She is a girl. She is about one and a half years old I have trained
her. I try to lead her at least every 3rd day. But sometimes I can’t because I am too busy
Soon I will be able to ride her. I can't wait.

Soccer Day

On Tuesday it was the soccer tournanent. Our school came 5th out of seven teams. In our team we had Alex, Anja, Alan, Alice, Mason, Victoria and I. We played six games we beat two teams and lost four games. But we were one point off getting into the semi-finals. It was all a fun day.

Chopper

Today a helicopter came to our school. The man showed as
all the things in the helicopter. He landed on the school hill. They were pretending it was a flood. It was fun.

Pets Day

Pets Day
On Tuesday it was pets day. I led my calf. I came 3rd with my calf. His name is Tom. After the leading was done I had a stall. It was basketball throw. Me and my friend Mason had that stall. A lot of people came to it.
Before leading everyone had lunch. At 3:30 it was prize giving. It was a fun day.

Holiday

In the first week of the holidays I went to my friends.
We went there on Friday. On Saturday we did docking all day it was my friends birday. I gave my friends two presents. They are twins. On Sunday I went home it was fun.

My goals for this term are to get better at Handwriting, Spelling and Reading.

RUNAWAY 1

I started to pack. I put it all on the quad.
I was taking my friend Brendon.
"Where are we going Aaron?" said Brendon.
"Pig hunting. "
"Cool ." We raced up a steep track.
"There's one." Brendon shot it. It died.
"Good shot" I said. "Lets put up the tent and tomorrow we will build a better hut."
"What did we get last night" said Brendon as we were building the hut. "20 Possums
5 Pigs and 9 goats." I replied. "Let’s build a plan "
"OK" said Brendon. "
Let’s go to the dump". I said.
"There's a propeller"
"I've found some wheels." 2 hours later we found an old motor.

The purpose of this game is entertainment. You have to use your tank to shoot up other peoples tanks. The good thing about this game you have a choice of bullets. The bad thing is that you cant pick your tank. Overall I liked it.

One morning Mum came wake me up it was a cold morning.
Mum told me Dad was on the farm when I had breakfast
Mum told me to go to the deer farm and pick Dad up.

Before I was nearly there I saw Dad he shouted STOP STOP
When he had got to the quad we drove home .When we got homeit was five to nine. Mum gave me my lunch.

Just as I got to school it was sitting up.
Later when I got home Mum said to have some afternoon tea.

The Holidays kicked off with Christmas.
I got lollies, cars, some
chocolate , and we all got a DVD player. I also got a pocket knife and a Tramping bag

Later we went to Coromandel. We went to beaches and one time
we swam with sharks so we got out
quickly. Later we went to Auckland.
then we went to Rainbows End. Then me and Alex went on the family cars.
I liked that ride .Then two days later
we drove home.

One week later it was school. The holidays went too fast but school is not too bad.

AARONS STORY

Once there was a boy called Aaron and the rest of his family had died in a car crash.
All the stuff was his. So he learnt to drive the car but he crashed into the letterbox twice.
And there was a motor bike for him too and he knew how to drive it. He used his mum’s and dad’s money to buy food. He was about 15.
When his mum and dad and family died he stopped school and got a job to get money to buy food to
eat. Then one day he met Mason. He worked with him in the garbage run.
And he lived very happily.
